Hi Phyllis!
So glad that you’re back. If we still had VHS, your loc videos would have been worn and snapped by now, I watch them so much!
Question for you, do you have any “flaky scalp” advice for someone who’s locs are still forming? I’ve had my Sisterlocks since February and haven’t put anything in them other than to use a clarifying shampoo (per my locticians instructions), but lately my scalp is way too dry. I want to start oiling and moisturizing now that most of my locs are pretty formed. I still experience slippage, though, and want to avoid more of my locs falling out.
But the flaking is driving me crazy. Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I took delivery of my Springlocks Instructional Video and the extras… It’s all in the technique because the tools are simple. The small but mighty pipecleaner is ALREADY my tool of choice for curling my Sisterlocks– especially now that I’ve got a little length after 4 years.
Thx for creating the video and designing a bonus package. It had everything I needed to go to work on my hair. I had great results! I am going to blog about it.
I’ll be sure to practice drawing in my uneven ends for a MORE finished look (just as you mentioned in the vid.) Thanks again!
Phyllis,

Hi Ms. Phyllis!
I have been keeping up with your videos on Youtube and I needed some advice and I have a couple of questions. First, what is the difference between sisterlocks and Springlocks? I recently got my hair coiled to begin the locking process and I would love for my locks to be as neat as possible. What is the best way for me to gain this goal. Also, are there any products that are not very expensive but very effective in keeping the locks neat? Thank you in advance for your response and for the tips provided in all of your videos. I have always wanted sisterlocks but I just cannot afford to get them started or the maintenance. Thanks again and have a blessed Day!!
Hi Nikkie. The difference between the SpringLocks and the Sisterlocks is this…the Sisterlocks is a “locking technique” that produces, over time, very small refined locks. SpringLocks is just a curling techinique that I use and named to produce an abundance of curls and waves in locks. So Sisterlocks is a “locking technique” and SpringLocks is my own “curling technique” using pipe cleaners to achieve a very defined curl pattern in locks.
The best way to keep locks looking neat is to have them groomed on a regular basis (every 3-6 weeks). Keep in mind that “neat” for locks is not the same as “neat” for processed or permed hair. Locks can have a degree of loose hairs and fuzziness and still be considered “neat”.
As far as inexpensive products for locks…you may get better answers by visiting blogs where people are reviewing products. Since I’ve had my locks, I’ve always use high quality oils, butters and balms with very little to no synthetics, fillers etc. I don’t purchase my products from traditional retail outlets. If I couldn’t find them, then I made my own. When you go the natural or organic routes with maintaining your hair, I would expect to pay a little more than less. I’m sure there are some great inexpensive products that are actually good for your hair, but you’ll need to find them by trial and error (the same way you would with natural and organic products).
Nikkie, great questions and thanks for posting. Have a great hair day.
Hello again Phyllis, this is Gwen from Reno. How are you today? I just had to write and tell you about your conditioning mist; it is absolutely wonderful. I live in NV where it is very dry and I have very dry hair. I have sisterlocks and I must tell you until I tried your conditioning mist my locks were dry and locked dry, using your conditioning mist makes my locks soft and they look very different. As a setting lotion it is wonderful, my Spring locks last forever, the longer I wear them the fluffyier (is this a word?
they look. I cannot tell you the compliments I have gotten on my hair. My locks are shoulder length, they were past my waist until last summer when I cut them. If I had known about your products I would not have cut them. I also have some of your jewelry, the 8 piece crystal gold set, the tiny cobra and the cobra with the charm. I love all of them but especially the cobra pieces, I leave them in all the time. I also love the samples of the shea butter balms. I will be ordering your products regularly.
Once again thank you for all that you do. Have a wonderful hair day and once again I know I will because of your products.
Gwen
Hi Gwen. Thank you for your kind comments. I’ve posted them on the Testimonial Page and I’m very happy that you’ve found value in the products. Have a fantastic hair day.
