Where can I buy/order this product. From the videos it seems like just what I need. By the way, my sisterlocks are 26 months old and I am ready to introduce some conditioning into my routine. Do you recommend this for 2 year old locks.

Hi JB. It doesn’t matter how young or old your locks are, they will always benefit from moisturizing and conditioning, and the Healthylocks Conditioning Mist will work to do both. Locks tend to be more dry already so you would definitely benefit from a very light misting of your Sisterlocks on a regular basis. This is the product that my new Sisterlocks and traditional lock clients leave with. Contrary to what Sisterlocks consultants are trained to tell you (don’t condition your locks until your locks “settle”) which can be from several months to 18 months or more depending on your texture. The mist provides a way that you can lightly hydrate and condition your hair or new locks without major slippage or unraveling and without submersing your head in water.

Your 26 month old Sisterlocks will absolutely love the mist.

I just received my healthylocks conditioning mist. I really like it and it smells wonderful. My locks are 22 months old. I’m still experimenting with shampoo. I have a mixture of gray and my natural color. I’m not going to color it but letting nature do it’s own highlighting. Do You have any suggestions on what shampoo and conditioner would be good for my locks?

Hi De. It’s great to hear that you are enjoying the mist. As far as what shampoo and conditioner are good for your locks, I always respond with “whatever YOU like”. No shampoo or conditioner is going to be a cure all for everybody. If there was a shampoo/conditioner that you used prior to locking, you can use the same products with your locked hair. It’s still just shampoo and conditioner cleansing and conditioning your hair.

If you, by any chance, discover a shampoo for locks or a conditioner specifically for locks, it’s just another marketing tactic to get you to buy their product. I use shampoo and conditioner based on my hair needs (and my hair needs change throughout the year). Along with traditional shampoos, I’ve used soaps as shampoos; shower gels as shampoos and conditioners as shampoos. Along with traditional conditioners in the bottle, I’ve used kitchen oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil , jojoba oil and my current favorite, the Soul Purpose line of body balms as conditioners.

    Here is my regimine:

I currently use a dandruff or medicated shampoo on my scalp and the Soul Purpose shower gel for my hair and then apply the Soul Pupose body balm as my conditioner after I’ve towel dried my locks. That works best for me.

A tip that I can give you when you do find a shampoo and conditioner that you like is to dilute both by at least half with water. This will give you a “thinner solution” and will make it easier to work through your locks.

The only type of shampoo that I would not recommend are the 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner types. These type of shampoos aren’t really good at thoroughly doing either (cleansing or conditioning) very effectively and will cause build up over time. Last note…the most important step in the the shampoo and conditioning process is thorough rinsing.

De, I’m working on an ebook now that will give some great tips on every aspect of locked hair care. Thanks for visiting the site and posting here. I’m sure my answer to your question will help many as I hope it has helped you. Just maintain a common sense approach to your hair regimen and you and your locks will be fine. Have a great hair day.
