This broadcast won’t be for everyone. But for people wanting to start, enhance and grow their businesses, I think you’ll get some great insight by joining me tonight. Of course, you’re invited to check it out, but it’s really a broadcast in response to the many emails I receive asking about different aspects of my hair business and how someone can get started or break into the natural hair industry. So looking forward to chatting with you tonight.
You have to register in order to be able to chat and call in “LIVE”, but if for some reason you’re having issues with the registering process, just watch below (you won’t be able to chat though). So make sure you click the link above or the picture with the sister holding the cash, and get registered now. Looking forward to chatting with you tonight! -Phyllis
Hey Healthy Lockers…The Face Book Fan Page is finally live. There’s not much activity now, but that will soon change. The fan page will be an extension of the live broadcasts where you can continue to chat after the broadcasts and just anytime you want. I will be checking and updating at least once a day.
I encourage all of you to “LIKE” the posts and absolutely feel free to upload your own pics and videos. And if you have blogs, FaceBook profile pages or group pages, by all means share any of the content on your sites, Facebook “Walls”and pages. If you do share my content, I would really appreciate it if you share the link back to this blog or the fan page. Thanks in advance!
I realize that there are several very good and informative fanpages and groups related to locs and sisterlocks out there, however, my goal with this fanpage is to answer and respond to your questions and comments, not only with text but with video and photos when appropriate (you know “video” is my thing). Keep in mind that most of these videos won’t be edited, but raw video footage from my iphone or flip camera. This will allow me to respond more quickly to your questions and concerns about your locs, instead of taking a lot of time to edit or having to wait for two weeks until the next live broadcast.
So it’s really going to be up to you to keep this fan page going with fresh content, photos and pics too!
Click on this banner to the left to go there now. If it’s your first visit, you will be prompted to “LIKE” the page. Once you do that, you’ll also see Part 2 of this video I’m about to share with you now. It’s featuring “Tina”, my newest Sisterlocks client. She’s on her consultation and sharing why she is going “From Wig To Sisterlocks”. You’ll like it. So check out this video below and then go to the fan page to see part 2. You’ll discover my #1 secret to growing long, healthy and “SEXY” locs. Enjoy!

My Sisterlocks are 11 years and 3 months old. I’m re-posting this pictorial of my 10 year Sisterlocks journey. Notice how the hair has changed but still managed to remain absolutely gorgeous through every stage of the locking process. Click the video and then read below!
After several months of using products that were too drying for my hair and scalp, I began to research and experimenting with home made products for myself and my clientele. The result is the product line that I make available today.
In all of my pictures and the pictures and videos of my clients, you’ll always notice how “soft and healthy” the locks look. If they “look” that way, then you can just imagine how incredibly soft the locks must feel. I was using a combination of the mists and and oils way before I bottled and labeled them for sale and encouraged my clients to use them from day one of their installation – they’ve never had an issue with “Dry Locks”.
My product line has since become very popular with many of you because the RESULTS speak for themselves! After viewing the above video, I invite you to visit the products page to see what products will work for you. I encourage you to read the testimonials. Don’t just take my word for it – although you could…LOL! Feel free to call me at 302-836-3550 if you have questions about what to order for your locks or to process the order over the phone.
I’m feeling some kinda way right now. I conducted a very fun and engaging live broadcast and featured two new videos, BUT forgot to press the RECORD button. So I’m stressed, hungry and pretty bummed out over the situation. So all of you who did not participate on the live broadcast, will never see that fantastically fun and engaging broadcast.
I’m just so drained now because that was very disappointing to discover. It’s 2:17 am and I’m totally spent and too tired to write this post. So for right now, I’ll just post the two videos that I shared during the live broadcast. I’ll come back to this later on in the week and make it a more proper post.
This easy-to-learn twisting technique is an awesome styling choice for Sisterlocks, dreadlocks and locs. There are no pins or clips. This technique uses your own locks to create a waterfall of curls and texture throughout your locks. This style will last for days on end.
Here’s a great post about how I protect my locks at bed time. See if any of this information can work for you. Remember, for those of you who are going through your “personal summers” and can’t imagine covering your head while sleeping, just cover your pillow with a satin-like pillow case or purchase a piece of material from the fabric store and tie it around your pillow. It serves the same purpose. Check out the video!
This video is #3 of the 3 part series on shampooing and conditioning long locks, dreadlocks and natural hair. If you’re doing any type of clarifying shampoo first, you will be thoroughly washing away all of your natural oils. Well, those oils will need to be replaced. Now the natural oil that your scalp produces (sebum) will work to help condition the hair closest to the scalp, but if you have any length to your locks or if your locks are color-treated, the rest of you locks will become very dry over time. Since I and my clients have always “dry conditioned” our locks and use lock-friendly products, dryness is not really an issue. Healthy locks are clean, supple and have a naturally soft sheen when well moisturized.
As always, if you’re currently using products that you absolutely love and are working for you, then by all means continue to use them. But if dryness continues to be an issue for you, then try a few of the Soul Purpose products along with the Healthylocks Conditioning Mist. I highly recommend them. Enjoy the video!
Have A Great Hair Day!

Let me introduce you to “Lisa”. Lisa has been a client of mine for the past 7 months. I first met Lisa at one of my natural hair seminars that she attended with her aunt. Although her aunt immediately became one of my loyal and appreciated clients, Lisa however, waited to begin her lock journey for 2 more years! So I knew she was ready when she came to me for her Sisterlocks. Lisa’s hair texture was very soft, wavy, and dense, and it produced a head full of endless beautiful natural coils. It was 3-4 inches on top and almost 3 inches on the sides and back.
Lisa is one of those “perfect clients”. She was very dilligent with her hair care in between retightening sessions. We had one set back though. During a shampoo, she accidentally grabbed a moisturing shampoo and most of her locks became extremely loose and many unraveled completely. What normally would’ve taken me 3 hours to complete her grooming, took me almost 6 hours!
Because of the softness and looser curl pattern of Lisa’s natural texture, she was on a “shorter” re-tightening schedule until her locks settled. She’s currently on a 4 week schedule and the goal is 6 weeks.
Although 7 months has passed, Lisa’s hair has not begun to lock yet. They are more settled though, and make for a great transitional style while waiting for her hair to lock. I don’t encourage any additional styling or manipulation. This is hair that you can just tousle and go! Lisa absolutely loves her Sisterlocks and cares for them meticulously in between her visits with me…and it shows!
This was a spur of the minute video. Lisa is one of those clients that I thought would never be open to sharing on video. I asked, and to my surprise, she said, yes! The lighting wasn’t all that great and the video has an orange hue, but the the content is amazing! I’m forever grateful to Lisa for allowing me to document this part of her Sisterlocks journey and sharing with all of you! Enjoy! Thanks Lisa!
Shannon is my newest client and I’m excited to have her as part of our "Healthylockers" family. She has new locks, which are considered "Baby Locks or Baby Locs". Shanon will be sharing her locking process from the perspective of a woman working in a professional environment. I hope this will help a lot of sisters who are hesitant about going natural or locking their hair because you don’t know how it will be accepted or what people will think of you. Great insight here. Click on the videos (Part 1 and Part 2) to see how the interview went. Then…
A great 3 part series with my sister who has “Traditional” locks. I started Robin’s locks approximately 4 years ago. At that time, she only had 2 inches of new growth and about 5 inches of permed hair. Of course, we cut off the perm (the Big Chop) and she had very short coils close to her head when we were finished. Her locks are lovely now.
